Summary:
The Metal Lead Guitar method consists of three book/CDs -- a Primer, a Volume 1, and a Volume 2 -- each packed to the gills with licks, concepts, tricks, and music to hone your technique. It guides you to a professional playing level, teaching the techniques used by players like Eddie Van Halen, Joe Satriani, Kirk Hammett, Slash, Zakk Wylde, Jerry Cantrell, Jimi Hendrix, Randy Rhoads, and others. But the main focus of this method is not copying licks, but developing solid playing technique and musicianship, and to launch you on the path to creating your own lead style.

Volume 1 begins at an intermediate level and is the natural starting point for those already familiar with the basics. Includes 171 licks, exercises and solos, all demonstrated on the CD. Includes six full-length solos with backing band. On these, the rhythm tracks also repeat the solo section without the lead guitar, so you can practice these solos against the rest of the band.

Covers: minor pentatonic, blues, and natural minor scales, the Dorian mode, all articulations (hammer, pull, slide, all types of bends, vibrato, palm mute, artificial harmonics, rake, staccato, etc.), cliches, rhythmic patterns, transposing, alternate picking formats, speed exercises, triplets, shuffle rhythms, phrasing exercises, tonal numbering, cross-string picking mechanics, sequencing and contouring, natural harmonics, using the vibrato bar, and right-handed tapping.
