Summary:
Metal Guitar Tricks examines a variety of cool tricks, techniques, and manually produced sound effects. It is written for the self-taught guitarist and uses tablature without rhythm notation. Timing is meant to be learned by ear, from listening to the examples on the accompanying CD. This book is is older -- published in 1988 -- so, it doesn't cover all the cool sound tricks originated by Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine. (For that, check out the RATM Signature Licks book/CD.)
Guitar Tricks is arranged in five chapters: Left Hand Tricks, Sound Effects, Tapping Tricks, Whammy Bar Tricks, and Special Techniques. Each chapter culminates with a short, stand-alone guitar solo that incorporates the ideas covered in that chapter.
