I just bought new tubes for my 5150 and called around to the guitar stores in my area about biasing my amp.  They all gave me the same answer which is they send the amp away to get it biased somewhere else.  This seems like a pain in the a** and will no doubt be pricy.  Do tubes need to be biased?  What happens if I just replace my tubes without doing it?  I'm not very saavy on repairing electronics and don't know how hard it'd be to bias it myself.  I'd probably need equipment to do that too.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!!  Thanks

Yes you'd need equipment.
As a newbie you'd risk getting yourself electricuted in the process. There are deadly currents stored in the capacitors in your amp.
I personally wouldnt do it. Let someone with experience do it for you..
