I made it last Friday......My wife suprised me with a HUGE birthday party on Sat., ......I took vacation just on the chance that she MIGHT do something, but I expected something smaller on Sunday! I honestly thought she had bought me a Gibsno LP classic....since I'd mentioned it so much...but she didn't....she caught me TOTALLY off guard with a Roland TD6-V Tour Electroninc Drum Set! I Played drums when we met, in fact since we moved last Dec I now have my old aet up again with the intention of recording....I've just found it easier to use a drum machine....I didn't know what to think cause I know nothing about electronic drums! It took me all of yesterday to set them up....but the sounds are amazing...not just drums, but whole bands, even orchestras! Now I can record just about anything!
OH WELL...I thought that turning 40 it would be all down hill from here...someone at my party, (too drunk to remeber who!) said the HARD part is over now...and it's all fun from now on...That's my new moto!

Congratulations Tim. Nice to read good news for a change.

I hope I have a wife who will do the same for me when I get to 40.

Congrats Tim.  Happy birthday.

So now that you're like, really old, are you selling your guitars?

Happy birthday Tim!

I am coming up on 42!!  Life is in many ways more fun now, but my knees hurt more.  I still love my music loud though, and having a great marriage and good kids is a blessing.

Sounds like your wife is a peach!  (BTW, I got a PRS for my 40th, so no complaints here).

Hey guys thanks for all the birthday wishes!
Yeah my wife is pretty cool....she tolerates my music...which she really hates...she's into country...which I can only tolerate...BUT she goes well out of her way to encourage/support me in whatever I'm inot. Right now it's recording...and she almost always helps me get my TOYs!
We are almost opposites, but we seem to live together pretty well! We've both had previous marriages and we just seem to work! It's not a 2 people hopelsy in love realtionship" but more of a friend/roomate, support each other realtionship....and compared to my last that seems to outweigh the romance!
Anyway thanks again and I'm not giving up the guitar...I still want to develop to be a good lead player!

Hey guess what?....I've been having a blast on my new drums.....I play them through my PA system and they sound great! I've played what I know how to play and i sound better than ever!
BUT then I got serious and decided to supplement my guitar "learning" with the drums....it's been awesome!
I bought two books...one that's kinda taking me back to the basics which I never learned and the other teaching more Rock styles. The best part is I know know how to read drum music AND better yet...i can figure out rhythym patterns, beats by looking at the music alone!
THEN more important...I go to ML1 or MR1 and the beats/patterns are alot easier to figure out BEFORE I actually listen to the CD. I'm excited! I may never be a drummer/or guitar player but it has defintely increased my ability to read music!

Awesome, Tim! It's nice to read good news once in a while.

My bro is a self-taught drummer and started out with Alfred's Basic Drumming book.
