HI - I"m not a guitar or rock aficionado, but have heard a guitar instrumental on the radio and desperately want to find out the name of the song and artist.... All I can say is that the song sounds like someone is kinda ornamenting each note of a scale as they progress down the scale. The only other hint I have is that it sounds to be in the style of Joe Satriani...

Can you write something more about the song?
Is it slow, medium or fast tempo?
I would try to ask the radio, too. Maybe they know the title.
Or listen to each Satriani song on the net.
For example at http://www.cheap-cds.com you can listen to every song for 30 seconds.

Hi Daniel...

It's definitely a medium-faster tempo - it's an upbeat sounding instrumental, and it goes from the upper part of the scale down.  I've tried listening to clips of Satriani, to Jeff Beck, etc?  I'm just wondering if the part of the song I recognize comes after 30 seconds into the song....  I guess I could always call the radio station and hum it - how embarrassing would that be?

if you can tell the radio station what time you heard it, they should be able to tell you what song was scheduled in the playlist at that time.

Or they may keep a record of their playlists on their website (if they have one) and you could find it yourself.  It could at least give you a list of songs played around the time you remember hearing it, to narrow your search
