Does anyone here listen to a band called Nightwish?

Anyway there awesome if your up for something abit different to the mainstream American and UK metal bands (dont get me wrong though, i love All good metal regardless where it comes from its just good to hear different metal with different cultural and regional influences).

There singer is a female called Tarja and she sings in a classical opera type style but it sounds so good combined with heavy metal, i think classical music and metal combined is unreal and alot of European metal bands play this kind of music.

If you want to check out Nightwish go to there site at http://www.nightwish.com, and if you can, listen to a song on there wishmaster album called "wishmaster".

Other bands from over that way that also interest me are blind guardian, and kamelot, and if theres anymore bands of that kind that you people know about let me know so i can check em out thnx

I've listened to a little Nightwish before. It's cool. I love European metal!! My favorite has to be Moonspell. Poisonblack and Sentenced are killer as well. If you haven't heard them, I would recommend these albums:

Moonspell - Wolfheart (old style Moonspell)
Moonspell - Darkness & Hope (new style Moonspell)
Sentenced - The Cold White Light
Poisonblack - Escapextacy

Of course, this is just my opinion, and you may or may not like them, but I think they are all awesome!!!

tonight i learned the song KINSLAYER!!!! do i get a cookie? can anyone else play any Nightwish? i may learn Wanderlust next for fun.

(lyrics about Columbine)
http://darklyrics.com/lyrics/nightwish/wishmaster.html#2

the main riff isolates the ring and pinky and i'd recommend it if anyone wants a killer palm-muted song to learn and advance your playing.

i know Nightwish for a while now (got an NW DVD too) and there's a big chance they will come to Graspop .
I think Wishmaster is their best song.

you could try The Sins of thy Beloved too ...you've never heard Gothic Metal untill you've heard the Sins . It's Doom metal so it's very "heavy". What i like about them is that they have very drastic changes in vocals.
Anita has the voice of a sad angel while Glen's voice is like a roaring thunder demon . (Actually i think he's the best grunter around )
Shame they've quited though .

Two to try : -Pandemonium
-TheThing That Should not Be(Metallica cover)

But the best band still is Iced Earth :p

Nightwish are great to put on when there are tourists looking in through your window (second only to Rhapsody )

Of course, such bands also convince you friends that your crazy, but nevermind!

Haha, they are mostly either Japanese or (English and) old (do they still count as tourists? sight-seers, anyway)

Wishmaster is the my favourite, though from looking at reviews on the internet Oceanborn is generally considered the best

All their albums are good, but I don't think they come close to Wishmaster or Oceanborn
