Hi, for the first trill exercise, it uses a pentatonic scale, in the book, the photo for this exercise shows the thumb hanging over the neck, which is how I approach playing pentatonics anyway... The problem is, whenever i do the trills with my 1st and 3rd fingers, my little finger just starts flapping all over the place, my 2nd finger also moves a bit. I've been doing the finger independence exercises which I am finding very difficulty, still persevering though... any advice /other exercises anyone knows to help with this, how much can it be improved??? -even if I put my thumb on the back of the neck for this exercise there is still movement from other fingers...help!!!! Thanks

slow down. Spend some time playing the exercises slowly so that you can control those other elements. I suffer from a flailing pinky too but it can be brought under control by slowing right down. Retraining yourself can be a slow process but it can be done with patient and persistent practice
